Victor Ngui THE taxi fare revisions by ComfortDelGro ('ComfortDelGro revises taxi fares'; yesterday) are unjustifiable, particularly starting the peak surcharge an hour earlier at 6am and extending the daily peak surcharge from 6pm to midnight.
Singapore's competition watchdog has reminded trade associations not to become a vehicle to facilitate price collusion or price-fixing.
This came a day after the National Taxi Association, a trade union body representing 12,000 taxi drivers, urged other taxi companies to adjust their fares in line with Comfort DelGro's revision.
The new fares by Singapore's largest taxi operator ComfortDelGro will kick in on December 12 just as festive shopping kicks into high gear.
The new fare structure has drawn flak from commuters, who are unhappy over having to pay more, especially at night.
Already Taxi fares are so costly & yet Comfort Delgro still have the greed to increase price...
Singapore will not have Tourist returning & taxi passengers are fedup & frastrated with the taxi service availability..There too many complains that taxi are hard to get & Long Queues for taxis in the taxi stand...

SINGAPORE'S taxi problem persists despite the addition of more taxis and more surcharges ('Trying time waiting for a cab' by Miss Li Meixuan; Wednesday). It is obvious that the current business model is not working.
Since taxi companies are tasked with providing the service in Singapore, they must be accountable for ensuring that there are a sufficient number of taxis on the road serving the public.
The current model of letting 'self-employed' drivers decide when to ply their business cannot ensure this.
I wonder if the Land Transport Authority and the taxi companies have considered having a proportion of the taxis driven by drivers who are employees of the taxi companies, much like bus drivers. This would ensure that the taxis are on the road all the time.
Their remuneration could be packaged in such a way that they are incentivised to pick up passengers at all times.
The taxi companies must do more than lease out taxis. When part of their revenue comes from their employees driving their taxis, the firms will be alert to the fact that their business profitability is correlated to having responsible employees and satisfied customers.

Where did the arsenic come from?
The police launched an in-depth and extensive investigation. A medical school professor was invited to come to solve the case.

The professor said: 'The deceased did not commit suicide and neither was she murdered, she died of accidental death due to ignorance!'

The problem was that she ate a large portion of shrimp/prawn during dinner. Eating shrimp/prawn is not the problem that's why nothing happened to her family even though they had the same shrimp/prawn. However at the same time the deceased also took 'vitamin C', that is where the problem was!
Researchers at the University of Chicago in the United States , found through experiments, food such as soft-shell contain much higher concentration of five
potassium arsenic compounds.
Such fresh food by itself has no toxic effects on the human body.
However, in taking 'vitamin C', chemical reaction occurs and the original non-toxic elements change to toxic elements.
Arsenic poisoning has magma role and can cause paralysis to the small blood vessels. Therefore, a person who dies of arsenic poisoning will show signs of bleeding from the ears, nose, mouth & eyes. Thus as a precautionary measure,
DO NOT eat shrimp/prawn when taking 'vitamin C'.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day.
I'd like the" US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just another day.
I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.
I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."
In fact....
I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God....) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day....

If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the "minority opinions" and begin, once again, to represent the "majority" of ALL of the American people.
